Part 6: Selecting the Statue of Liberty
Now that the colours of the city are nicer, I need to work on the statue. I would like to cut it out and place it in the front on the right, as it is on the picture below.
The statue is cut out and placed to the right
I don't know how to do it. I will watch the videos on the page below and follow along to get more practice. The first link will show me how to select the statue perfectly and the second will show me how to mask the background.
Wow, that's cool! I know now how I will cut the Statue out.
So, how will I proceed in Photoshop in order to get it done?
USING A LAYER MASK ON THE STATUE

I will obviously start by bringing the statue back to its full size. Since I'm working with a smart layer, there won't be any distortion. Then, I will use the Quick selection tool to select the statue. I will improve my selection using the Select and mask tool in the options bar. Ultimately, I will apply a layer mask to my selection.
Does that look similar to what I wrote?
So that's exactly what I'll do in Photoshop. I'll click on the button below when it's done.
